O movimento #ContraOAumento volta às ruas de Teresina ao meio dia desta segunda-feira (27/02). Segundo a página do Facebook do Contra o Aumento, que convida todos os estudantes para um ato em Frente ao Hiper Bom Preço, a concentração dos estudantes começará das 12h e vai até às 16h40 nos canteiros da Avenida Frei Serafim.



Segundo as informações da página, o lema do movimento é “Nenhum centavo a mais! Resistir até a tarifa cair!”. Movimento que se intitula “apartidário” reivindica:



1° Contra o aumento da passagem;


2° Pela municipalização do transporte público;


3° Melhorias no transporte e paradas de ônibus menos desumanas;


4° Liberdade de manifestação e anistia dos presos políticos que reivindicaram seus direitos nas últimas manifestações;


5° Passe livre para estudantes e professores.



O movimento que surgiu nas ruas de Teresina em setembro de 2011, quando a passagem aumentou de R$ 1,90 para R$ 2,10, na época conseguiu a revogação do decreto do aumento. Voltou às ruas em janeiro de 2012, quando a passagem voltou a aumentar com a implantação da integração na cidade.



Os protestos em Teresina chegaram a ganhar destaque nacional e internacional em janeiro, pela forma violenta que a polícia começou a conter os estudantes, segundo eles para evitar os transtornos que o movimento causava no centro da cidade, principalmente os grandes congestionamentos em horário de maior fluxo de carros e a queima de ônibus, que houve registro uma em setembro de 2011 e uma em janeiro de 2012.



Na época destes conflitos mais violentos entre policiais e estudantes, alguns manifestantes foram presos e levados para Casa de Custodia, eles chegaram a ficar quase uma semana detidos e saíram com pagamento de fiança, que foi estabelecida em R$ 2 mil.

#ContraOAumento protest in January 2012

The #ContraOAumento movement will return to the streets of Teresina at noon on Monday (27/02). According to the Facebook page Against the Increase all students are invited to a rally in front the Hiper Bom Preço, the demonstration of students will begin at 12pm at the entrance of the Avenida Frei Serafim and last until 16:40.

According to the information page, the movement's motto is "Not a Penny More! Resist until the rate drops." The movement that calls itself "nonpartisan" demands the following: 


1. A decrease in fare costs; 

2. For the municipalization of public transport; 

3. Improvements in transportation and better (less inhumane) bus stops; 

4. Freedom of expression and amnesty for political prisoners who claimed their rights in     recent events;
5. 5th Free passes for students and teachers. 


This movement began in the streets of Teresina in September 2011, when the bus fares increased from $ 1.90 to $ 2.10, then got the repealed by decreee. Students returned to the streets in January 2012, when the fares were again increased (by the implementation of integration ~ not quite sure of the meaning of this) by the city.

Due to a violent police crackdown to contain the student protests in January, the movment against the fare increases in Teresina managed to attract national and international attention in January. The reason given by the authorities for the crackdown was that they were trying to mainly avoid inconveniences caused by large traffic jams in the city center, which causecd traffic congestion during high traffic times for cars and buses. These were at record levels in September 2011 and in January 2012. 

At the time of the most violent conflicts between police and students, some protesters were arrested and taken to Casa de Custodia, where they were held for almost a week and were released with bail, at $ 2000 per person.
