Clashes broke out between protesters and police forces in the Malku Khota region, 550 kilometers southeast of the capital La Paz, on Thursday evening.
Three police officers were among the injured, an official said.
The Malku Khota project, near the southern city of Potosi, is owned by a subsidiary of Canada's South American Silver Corporation.
The protests turned violent at the site on Thursday after the protesters seized five workers with the Canadian company. The workers were then freed on Friday.
Residents of the Quechua community of Malku Khota have called on President Evo Morales to call off the project over fears that the operation will damage the environment.
It was the second time in the past weeks that Bolivian people staged demonstrations against the mining operations of foreign countries in the Andean community.
