This interview, Marcela Genaro, entitled The bank's real estate Cabralândia, is part of special coverage of # CopaPública Public Agency, and was originally published on removing Village Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro, March 22, 2013

Exactly who will help? Certainly Eike Batista, Coca-Cola, the big corporations that are behind it. But Zé Povinho/John Doe, certainly will not.
So the position can be summed up, or rather the cartoonist Carlos Latuff's opposition to the changes that the City of Rio de Janeiro is implementing to host the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics.
The 44 year old Rio resident, known for championing humanitarian causes through his cartoons using simple lines and acidic humor gave an interview in which the Public Agency in which he examines the preparation of Rio, which is called "ex-Marvelous City", for the aforementioned big events:

It's an onslaught of speculation. She can now move forward because there is such support, it is a "fair thing" that will promote the city outside. Guess it was not for nothing that the city government launched the game that is Rio de Janeiro as Monopoly. That right there was the best of all indicative. If we're talking about Monopoly, this is not the interests of the citizen who takes busses, who take the ferro or who ride the trains. We're talking about the interests of the players.
The Monopoly game of the Olympic City, created by manufacturers, highlights recent developments in the city. The City acquired 20 thousand copies of the game, at a cost of R $1,050,748, to distribute in public schools. The prosecutor looks for irregularities in the purchase of the toy, which would promote the government, as teaching material.
Latuff also speaks of removals of communities due to preparations for the World Cup and compares these preparations to "Demolitions" as it became popularly known urban reform promoted by engineer Francisco Pereira Passos, who was mayor between 1902 and 1906. This was a period marked by the "sanitizing" of Rio de Janeiro.

In fact, the Rio de Janeiro is not a boardgame nor a toy. It has been treated as such, but people who live in slums, the quilombolas or in indigenous areas know that this is no joke. Removal is not a joke. Far from it.

The cartooonist's opposition to the policy applied to large events has in the past even earned him a "car ride" to the police station when he was subpoenaed to testify after making a cartoon that criticized the 2007 Pan American Games:

What he had done was to draw Pan, Cauê, the mascot, holding a rifle, shooting into the air with an M16. The cartoon further had a slum/favela in the background, as well as an armored car. Under the allegation that I was using a design that was copyrighted, I was called to give testimony at a police station. The police came to my house with a subpoena.
Latuff is not intimidated. In the cartoon that he produced for the public after this interview, again featured the mascot of this World Cup as the protagonist.

I hope there is an awakening of consciousness, that people come to realize what is going on and do not buy this pig in a poke.
The structures responsible for managing the resources at the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics must take responsibility for their actions. We have to make it clear now and for all time to those who are and those who were responsible.
The testimony of Carlos latuff is particularly important because it touches on a wound and whether there is a confluence of desires by different parts of society, that can at least be clear and the opinion of each can be recorded.
